Job Overview:
Predoctoral contract in the field of Statistics and Operations Research. The position is funded by the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB).

Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in the field of Statistics and Operations Research.
- Assist in teaching tasks in Catalan and/or Spanish.
- Participate in the PhD program in Information and Communication Technology at the University of the Balearic Islands.

Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields. Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Analysis, or a related area, as of the start date of the contract.
- PhD Status: Pre-admitted or admitted to the PhD program in Information and Communication Technology at the University of the Balearic Islands. A copy of the enrollment or admission in the official PhD program for the 2025-26 academic year is required, or a certificate showing that the candidate is eligible for admission, as of the contract start date.
- Language Requirements: Ability to assist in teaching tasks in Catalan and/or Spanish.
- Experience: No specific prior experience required, but academic records, teaching activity, research activity, and other merits will be assessed.

Selection Criteria:
The selection process evaluates candidates based on two main sections:

Section A. Academic and/or Scientific and Technical Background of Candidates (maximum 50 points):
- Academic Record (maximum 35 points): Weighted GPA of bachelor's degree (max 20 points) and master's degree (max 15 points).
- Teaching Activity (maximum 6 points): Points for undergraduate teaching hours, positive teaching evaluations, and published articles on teaching quality.
- Research Activity (maximum 6 points): Points for publications in international journals (JCR), conference proceedings, national publications, oral/poster presentations, participation in competitive research projects, and research stays/fellowships.
- Other Merits (maximum 3 points): Specialized training courses, language certificates (C1 in Catalan/Spanish, B2 in English), professional experience, science outreach activities, additional master's degrees, and awards.

Section B. Suitability of Candidates for the Research Activities to be Carried Out (maximum 50 points):
- Evaluation of suitability based on previous education and experience, added value to the research career, and added value to the host institution and research team. Scoring scale ranges from Outstanding (50 points) to Very Poor (0 points).

- Gross monthly salary: 1.726,21 €
- National Social Security Insurance (Public Health Insurance)
- Contract duration until August 31, 2030

Additional Information:
- The work of pre-doctoral research staff will be assessed annually by the Academic Committee for the PhD Programme or the Doctoral School. The contract may be terminated if the assessment is failed.
