## About the role
As a founding member of the data science team, you'll be the front-line connection between our machine learning models and the people who rely on them. You'll spend your time on client calls, translating technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance, triaging customer concerns, and making sure our data-driven insights actually land with the marketers and media teams who use them. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who understands the marketing world from the inside and can speak fluently to both sophisticated stakeholders and our internal technical team. As the primary data scientist focused on customer facing issues, you will be responsible for overseeing ongoing improvements in technical tooling, including monitoring and automated resolution of bugs.
## Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact on client calls — explaining model outputs, methodology, and recommendations in plain, marketing-relevant language
- Triage incoming customer concerns and questions, diagnosing whether an issue is a data question, a model-interpretation question, or something to escalate to the broader team
- Partner closely with Customer Success and Product to understand user needs and provide educational support around our data-driven solutions
- Interpret model results and attribution insights, and help clients connect them to real budget and media decisions
- Support quality assurance by sanity-checking that data flowing into and out of our models makes sense from a marketing and business standpoint
- Surface recurring client questions and friction points back to the technical team to inform product and model improvements
- Work autonomously in a smaller team environment, owning client relationships and the end-to-end experience around the insights you deliver
- Follow and adhere to group standards such as SLAs, communication norms, and escalation processes
## Requirements
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in marketing, media management, media buying, or a closely related field
- Strong ability to explain technical and quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences — comfortable being the calm, clear voice on a client call
- Familiarity with marketing measurement concepts and, ideally, exposure to marketing mix models (MMM), attribution, or incrementality
- Working comfort with data: able to read and interpret SQL queries, navigate data visualization tools, and reason about model outputs (writing production code is not the focus of this role)
- Ability to read code and understand it is non-negotiable, but deep modeling or research experience is not required
- Experience working in agentic workflows is advisable
- General comfort with statistical concepts and the intuition behind regression-based methods and/or Bayesian statistics, enough to interpret results and field questions confidently
- Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Customer Success, and/or Data Engineering
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; background in marketing, communications, business, or a quantitative field all welcome
## What we offer
- Company equity
- 401k retirement plan + company match
- Health insurance covered for you and your dependents
- Learning budget for relevant courses of interest
