## About the role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will lead technical integration of Pepper's product with distributor's system of record to ensure successful project implementation, delivery, and best-in-class support to clients.
## Responsibilities
- Technical ownership: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for distributor integrations, ensuring seamless communication between Pepper and external partners.
- Scalable tooling: Design and maintain reusable scripts, frameworks, and documentation that enable faster onboarding of future distributors and reduce manual effort.
- Data quality assurance: Establish and monitor validation checks to ensure accuracy, reliability, and completeness of data pipelines between systems.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to translate distributor requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Issue resolution: Proactively troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, providing timely support to distributors and internal teams.
- Security and compliance: Implement and follow best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance in all integrations and customer-facing deliverables.
- Continuous learning: Stay current with industry trends, emerging ERP technologies, and integration best practices to bring fresh insights back to Pepper.
- Documentation & enablement: Create clear, user-friendly technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge bases to help scale team expertise.
## Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years experience in a technical, customer-facing role (e.g., SaaS startup, ERP integration, implementation, technical account management, IT operations).
- Hands-on technical skills: SQL, Python
- Proven ability to lead and own end-to-end projects, balancing both technical depth and client-facing communication.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills; able to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bias to action with creativity in problem solving.
- Collaborative, with willingness to roll up sleeves and do both tactical and strategic work.
## Nice to have
- Experience integrating ERP systems (Epicor, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, QuickBooks, ProducePro, etc.).
- Familiarity with EDI (electronic data interchange).
- Previous experience at a Series A–C startup or other high-growth environment.
