Software Development Manager, Network Control Plane
Salary: $212,700 - 287,700 per year
Requirements:
We require 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams. We require 7+ years of engineering experience. We require knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and networking development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations. We require experience working with product or program management teams. We prefer experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, explain product capabilities, define technical designs, and shape product strategy. We prefer experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and leading Software Engineers to strengthen their effectiveness and technical growth.
Responsibilities:
We lead a team of engineers to deliver on our vision of building the worlds fastest and most reliable network. We own control plane protocols, routing stacks, and lifecycle management software for a highly scaled network. We partner with routing protocol communities, network engineering, peer software teams, and other AWS service teams to design, develop, and operate control plane software for our network device platforms. We work backward from customer needs and define business metrics that improve customer impact. We recruit, coach, and mentor both senior and junior software engineers. We collaborate with management, customers, and adjacent development teams to create state-of-the-art solutions and adopt new technologies and algorithms. We establish quality standards and build mechanisms and processes that improve team efficiency while continuously simplifying and innovating. We oversee the full software delivery and operational lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and operations.
