Position Summary: The Student Support Coordinator supports both Department of Computer Science (CS) student organizations and the Computing Catalyst team, and this individual will work under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Partnership Development and the Associate Director of the Computing Catalyst. This individual will serve as the primary liaison with student organizations, providing guidance on departmental and university policies, hosting town hall meetings, working with the business office to coordinate purchasing requests and event logistics, and assisting student groups with logistics support for large events as well as assisting external relations events as needed.

In addition, the position provides programmatic and operational support for the Computing Catalyst's current student initiatives, including student success, career development, mentoring, scholarship, and experiential learning programs. This individual will coordinate program logistics, direct student employees, maintain program data and reporting, and collaborate with departmental and campus stakeholders to deliver high-quality events and services.

Success in this role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing outstanding support to students while advancing the department's student engagement and retention goals.

Due to the nature of the work, this position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, on a regular basis.

Physical demands: Work takes place in both an office environment and in on-campus buildings. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time performing general office functions with periods of standing for event setup, registration, and event supervision. Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, push and reach with arms. Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs. and arrange furniture for events. Will be required to attend evening or weekend events and ability to travel to on and off campus event locations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One (1) year of professional program, outreach, or event coordination experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of outreach and marketing strategies.
Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record-keeping.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.

Additional Job Details

Preferences:

• Experience using Google Workspace, Mailchimp, Canva, and similar design products.

• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

• Ability to independently manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Event planning experience
