## About the Role Help us capture the moments that change a student's future. Hope Street Group is a national nonprofit building the future of career guidance for students — powered by AI and grounded in real classrooms. Through our platform, students learn about themselves, explore careers, test pathways, and begin to imagine the life they want to build. As our work reaches more classrooms, districts, and partners, the way we tell our story matters more than ever. We are hiring a Lead Storyteller to help define and express Hope Street's narrative — clearly, credibly, and with heart. This is a senior creative role for someone who brings strong editorial judgment, deep empathy, and the ability to translate lived experience into stories that resonate with a wide range of audiences. You've likely spent years capturing, shaping, or sharing stories that matter — whether through writing, film, organizing, teaching, speaking, or another medium. You know how to notice what's meaningful, and you know how to help others see it too. This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and execution. You will help shape how Hope Street communicates who we are, what we're building, and why it matters — across various formats and contexts. Your work may include: - Capturing stories from students and educators - Producing or shaping short videos, testimonials, and classroom-based narratives - Developing one-pagers and summaries for district pilots and partnerships - Contributing to website copy, narrative framing, and content strategy - Creating or advising on decks, scripts, and materials used in growth, partnerships, and fundraising You will not be expected to do everything yourself. You will be expected to set a high bar for clarity, authenticity, and impact. ## Responsibilities ### Story Discovery and Capture - Engage directly with teachers, students, and partners to surface meaningful stories - Conduct interviews and conversations that lead to authentic, usable narrative material - Work comfortably in school settings, both virtually and in person ### Narrative Development - Turn raw experiences into clear, compelling stories across written and visual formats - Help develop consistent narrative through-lines across marketing, partnerships, and product - Ensure stories reflect the realities of classrooms and communities with care and accuracy ### Content Creation and Direction - Create content directly when needed (outlines, scripts, copy, videos, decks) - Provide editorial guidance and feedback to other creators and teammates - Balance speed and polish, knowing when each matters most ### Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner closely with Growth, Product, and Fundraising teams - Help shape how impact is documented and communicated - Represent Hope Street thoughtfully in external-facing contexts when appropriate ## Requirements - An experienced storyteller with strong editorial instincts - Comfortable working across mediums, even if you have a primary strength - Skilled at listening, synthesizing, and finding the signal in complex situations - Able to operate independently while collaborating closely with others - Motivated by work that has real-world impact, especially for young people ## Nice to Have - Experience in education, youth-focused work, journalism, or documentary storytelling - Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for content creation or research ## What We Offer You will help shape the voice of a growing national platform at an inflection point. Your work will reach students, teachers, district leaders, and partners across the country. You will have meaningful ownership over narrative and storytelling direction. You will be part of a small, mission-driven team building something new and consequential. ### Our Values Our work is grounded in four core values. These aren't slogans — they guide how we build, collaborate, and make decisions every day. **Inclusivity** We believe every student—regardless of background, identity, or zipcode—deserves access to meaningful career exploration. We design experiences where students feel seen, supported, and empowered. Internally, we build a team culture where all voices matter and belonging is a priority, not a perk. **Inspiration** We want students to feel something when they use our quests: excitement, possibility, confidence, creativity. Inspiration begins with us. We approach our work with optimism, storytelling, and purpose, creating learning experiences that spark imagination and open doors. **Curiosity** We are learners first. We experiment, ask questions, seek feedback, and explore what's possible with emerging technologies. Innovation is born from curiosity—and we aim to model that spirit for the students and teachers we serve. **Ambition** We carry a healthy, mission-driven ambition. We aim to create the highest-quality career learning experiences in the country. We take bold bets on behalf of students and educators while staying grounded in the realities of the classroom. Our ambition is paired with humility, accountability, and care. ### Benefits and Perks Working with us means joining a mission-driven team where people feel supported, trusted, and excited to come to work. We prioritize impact without burnout—for employees and for students. - **Flexible PTO**: Take time when you need it. We trust our team to balance rest and responsibility, and we support taking real breaks to recharge. - **Competitive Medical & Dental Plans**: High-quality medical and dental insurance options to support your health and peace of mind. - **403(b) Retirement Plan With Matching**: As a nonprofit, we offer a 403(b) program with employer matching—your future matters to us. - **Great Coworkers & Fun Team Events**: We're building something meaningful together. Expect a collaborative, supportive team, and opportunities to connect in energizing ways. - **A Culture of Creating Value Without Burnout**: We move fast, but we don't burn people.
