Hardware Engineer - FPGA

## Responsibilities - Work on cutting edge, next generation routers powering AI buildout. - Take networking system requirements and map them into functional blocks for FPGA implementation. - Work with the cross-functional team to address development requirements. - Participate in validation of the system and release to manufacturing. - Be a member of the FPGA team that designs control path FPGAs for various boards. - Interface with Diagnostics, Software, Board design, Manufacturing, and Hardware Qualification teams to ensure smooth delivery of the project. - Write RTL code, run simulations, address timing and other constraints, and generate programming files. - Work with many teams to resolve system-level issues. - Have good analytical skills and deal with the complexity of System Hardware and Software interactions. - Have a grasp of the system design for a router or line card. - Lead meetings, drive issues to resolution, and communicate clearly with all stakeholders. ## Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 7+ years of related experience, or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 4+ years of related experience. - FPGA or ASIC development experience from specification to production. - Experience with Verilog/System Verilog RTL coding. - Experience with industry-leading FPGA devices and tools. ## Nice to Have - Recent experience with UVM and/or VMM Verification methodology. - Experience with high-speed design debug. - Experience with advanced microprocessor-based design. - Low-level networking card debug experience. - Experience with CPU-based peripherals architecture. ## Benefits - Starting salary range for U.S. and/or Canada locations is $152,400.00 to $221,800.00. - Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan with Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. - Paid time away includes 10 paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, 1 paid birthday day off, 4 paid days off for personal wellness, 16 days of paid vacation, 80 hours of sick time, and optional 10 paid days for volunteering. - Employees may be eligible for grants of Cisco restricted stock units. ## Company - Cisco is revolutionizing how data and infrastructure connect and protect organizations in the AI era. - The role is onsite at the Milpitas office location, requiring at least 4 days/week. - The application window is expected to close on 08/31/2026, or earlier if the position is filled or sufficient applications are received. - The Common Hardware Group (CHG) delivers silicon, optics, and hardware platforms for Cisco’s core Switching, Routing, and Wireless products. - The role is part of the High-End Routing team that designs the ASR8000 routers. - The role is part of the FPGA team that designs control path FPGAs for various boards. - The role is for an experienced FPGA designer.
