Responsibilities
Drive development of manufacturing processes including CNC, laser, assembly, and surface treatment by assessing process flows and reviewing fixture design for manufacturability. Scope machining programs to optimize cycle times and develop advanced cutters with specialized coatings to achieve specific surface textures while minimizing burrs. Establish machine calibration criteria, down-select equipment based on capability, and work with vendors to develop, validate, and qualify brand-new equipment from RFQ to implementation. Collaborate with suppliers to define and refine mechanical tools and fixtures, establishing process readiness to secure dimensional and cosmetic requirements. Lead cycle time reductions in the NPI stage to hit mass production targets and review vendor in-process control specifications based on downstream processes and 2D drawings. Identify, research, and qualify premier equipment manufacturers and suppliers to develop sophisticated equipment that fulfills supply chain requirements.
