Sr. Controls Engineer
Salary: $139,000 - 139,000 per year
Requirements:
We require U.S. citizenship, with the opportunity to pursue a TS/SCI security clearance after hire if eligible. We look for a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, plus 10+ years of relevant controls experience; alternatively, 15+ years of relevant controls experience in place of a degree. We require 10+ years of industrial controls experience in a critical environment such as a data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, or water facility. We require 9+ years of general project or vendor management experience tied to construction and project delivery, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking. We prefer experience with electrical systems such as large-scale power distribution and generation equipment, as well as mechanical systems including cooling infrastructure. We prefer experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or maintaining HVAC controls or electrical SCADA systems, including controllers, software, and networks. We prefer familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS. We prefer strong understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical drawings, and standard operating procedures. We prefer experience designing data centers or other mission-critical MEP infrastructure. We prefer a Professional Engineer license, PMP certification, prior AWS or Amazon experience, or 4+ years of military service.
Responsibilities:
We train and support internal customers and stakeholders in the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems. We provide technical support to operations throughout the data center lifecycle and drive closure of action items from quarterly maintenance reviews. We define BMS and EPMS project scope, schedules, budgets, and level-of-effort estimates for customer- and stakeholder-driven work. We manage the scope, schedule, financials, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects across our data centers. We support procurement activities, including RFQs, RFPs, information requests, vendor proposal reviews, and purchase order issuance. We participate in our global on-call rotation to deliver immediate BMS and EPMS support to live data centers. We attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report progress to Controls and stakeholder leadership. We support commissioning activities for Controls projects in our data centers. We review, apply, troubleshoot, and refine the controls sequence of operation, while providing feedback to the design team. We develop and update controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces. We manage multiple stakeholder commitments and handle complex situations effectively. We oversee the financial management of BMS and EPMS service contracts. We regularly visit local operating data centers to troubleshoot issues, meet customers, and supervise vendor work to ensure alignment with scope, design, sequence of operation, and applicable local codes.
