Responsibilities
Assess DB2 environments including schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and dependencies; Identify workload types such as transactional, analytical, reporting, and application-dependent workloads; Support migration planning including target architecture, wave sequencing, remediation backlog, testing, and cutover strategy; Use tools like SQL Server Migration Assistant for Db2, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Pipelines for schema conversion and data movement; Convert DB2 SQL, data types, and database objects into Azure-compatible structures; Identify and resolve compatibility gaps between DB2 and Azure platforms; Build and maintain pipelines for full, incremental, and CDC-based loads; Validate migrated data using reconciliation queries, row counts, and business-rule checks; Optimize Azure performance through indexing, statistics, partitioning, and query tuning; Collaborate with application teams to evaluate dependencies, integrations, and potential impacts; Support testing phases including integration testing, performance testing, UAT, cutover, and post-production stabilization; Document migration designs, technical decisions, validation outcomes, and operational runbooks
