Responsibilities
Assign diagnosis and procedure codes to applicable patient records, including concurrent and discharged records, in accordance with established coding principles and guidelines; Work with the coding supervisor to manage workflow and distribute discharged records to non-senior coding staff; Respond to coding questions and concerns from fellow coders; Collaborate with clinical documentation nursing specialists to support quality documentation practices; Assist physicians, hospital personnel, and others with coding and billing inquiries; Report discharged-not-final-billed (DNFB) issues to the coding supervisor
