Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team focused on collaboration platforms and content management; Define clear direction, priorities, and measurable goals aligned with Digital Workplace and enterprise strategy; Strengthen talent capabilities in modern workplace engineering, information governance, and compliance technologies; Promote engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team; Partner with infrastructure, security, data, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions; Manage vendor relationships and strategic partnerships, including Microsoft and third-party compliance tools; Own the engineering and lifecycle management of SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams; Design scalable information architecture, taxonomy, and metadata frameworks; Establish governance for site provisioning, lifecycle controls, permissions, access management, and external sharing; Improve platform reliability, performance, and adoption through engineering standards and automation; Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Purview capabilities, including retention, disposition, records management, classification, sensitivity labels, DLP, insider risk, and information protection; Build enterprise data governance frameworks for collaboration content; Work with Cybersecurity, Legal, Risk, and Compliance to translate regulatory obligations into technical safeguards; Ensure our content management practices are auditable and defensible; Define and implement controls to reduce oversharing risk across SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams; Prepare the environment for AI capabilities such as Microsoft Copilot through exposure reviews, permission cleanup, and sensitive data protection; Apply least-privilege access models and monitor access behavior continuously; Create reporting and insights that help leadership understand data risk posture; Establish end-to-end content lifecycle practices, from creation and classification through storage, retention, archiving, and destruction; Ensure retention and defensible deletion are automated and policy-driven; Align lifecycle policies with business processes and regulatory schedules; Standardize document and records management practices across the enterprise; Define and maintain reference architectures for collaboration services, content management, and information governance; Drive the consolidation of legacy platforms into modern Microsoft 365 services; Ensure our collaboration solutions remain scalable, secure, and sustainable; Evaluate emerging capabilities, including AI and automation; Partner with operations teams to support a smooth transition from engineering to run; Define SLAs, SLOs, and observability practices for collaboration platforms; Implement automation, monitoring, and self-service capabilities; Reduce incidents and manage risk proactively through a closed-loop operating model; Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to understand business needs and shape IT strategy; Provide oversight for IT projects and products, including task assignment, schedules, releases, and stakeholder communications; Establish and monitor expectations to achieve company and department goals; Update policies, standards, procedures, and efficiencies to support our objectives; Manage staff performance, training, evaluation, and professional development; Serve as a technical expert and strategic advisor to senior management, associates, and business units; Ensure team activities follow configuration, change control, and security standards; Contribute to business meetings and special projects by bringing insight into end-user needs; Stay current on industry trends and hold vendors accountable for updates and maintenance
