Job Title: Multi-Skilled Technician (NC2)
Department: Facilities Management / Building Operations

Position Summary
The Multi-Skilled Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple building systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC. The role requires NC2 (National Certificate Level II) certification and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility equipment to ensure optimal building operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans
• Conduct corrective maintenance and emergency repairs on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls from building occupants
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Execute minor repairs and installations across multiple trades
Technical Skills Application
• Maintain electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, panels, and circuits
• Service mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, fans, and generators
• Repair plumbing systems including fixtures, pipes, drains, and water supply lines
• Maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and temperature controls
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, and general building repairs
Documentation and Compliance
• Maintain detailed records of equipment repairs, parts used, and time spent on tasks
• Follow safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards
• Report major equipment failures and recommend replacement or upgrades
Collaboration and Support
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
• Assist senior technicians and engineers with complex maintenance projects
• Participate in facility inspections and identify maintenance needs
• Support building improvement projects and tenant fit-out activities
• Provide coverage for other technicians during absences
Required Qualifications
Education and Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent
• NC2 (National Certificate Level II) in relevant trade (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Multi-Skilled Installation and Maintenance)
• Valid technical/vocational training completion certificate
Experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in commercial buildings, facilities, or industrial settings
• Demonstrated experience working across multiple technical disciplines
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Technical Competencies
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in mechanical system maintenance and repair
• Understanding of plumbing systems and basic pipe fitting
• Familiarity with HVAC system operations and basic troubleshooting
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals
• Basic computer skills for documentation and CMMS operation
Licenses and Requirements
• Valid government-issued ID
• Drug test and background check clearance
• Ability to obtain facility security clearance if required
Preferred Qualifications
• Additional NC certifications in multiple trades
• Experience in commercial real estate or property management environments
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
• First aid and CPR certification
• Experience with energy management and sustainability initiatives

• Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, noisy)
Working Conditions
• Standard work schedule: 6days a week, 8 hours per day
• May require occasional overtime, weekend work, or on-call duty
• Emergency response availability may be required
• Work environment includes mechanical rooms, rooftops, basements, and occupied spaces
