Requirements:
We require prior experience creating Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, technical maintenance manuals, and flight operations manuals, ideally in an S1000D environment for Air Force programs. We value familiarity with Rivet Joint, Cobra Ball, or Combat Sent mission system architecture and mission profiles, as well as knowledge of KC-135 or RC-135 aircraft systems and operations. We need the ability to interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirement documents, software interface control documents, and test procedures. We expect experience interviewing engineering personnel to produce accurate, thorough technical documentation that meets professional and military standards. We look for clear oral and written communication skills. We require the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external customers. We need the capability to manage or contribute within defined budgets and meet schedule commitments. We expect strong computer proficiency and a solid command of the Microsoft Office suite and related applications. Familiarity with the S1000D standard, Webex authoring, and Localized CSDB is preferred. We require the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance. We require a bachelors degree with four years of technical publication authoring experience in structured authoring environments, including unstructured and/or structured FrameMaker and technical publications. We accept a graduate degree with two years of technical publication authoring experience in structured authoring environments, including unstructured and/or structured FrameMaker and technical publications. In lieu of a degree, we require at least eight years of technical publication authoring experience in structured authoring environments, including unstructured and/or structured FrameMaker and technical publications. We require U.S. citizenship. An active Secret DoD clearance is preferred.
Responsibilities:
We gather, write, and edit technical information to produce flight manuals, maintenance manuals, and other documentation for our warfighters. We deliver timely, high-quality publication outputs for commercial and government programs in a fast-paced environment. We work under general supervision and may take ownership of entire programs. We interview engineering subject matter experts to ensure our documentation is precise, complete, and compliant with professional and military requirements. We interpret technical source material such as drawings, specifications, interfaces, and test documents to create accurate publications. We communicate clearly in both spoken and written form. We collaborate closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and customers to meet project needs. We help manage budgets and deadlines, and may also lead defined work efforts. We perform additional duties as assigned by our supervisor.
