Do Work That Matters 

Business Banking Finance provides management information, forecasting, analysis, business advice and insight to our business partners. We are also responsible for maintaining a strong financial control environment. 

As an Advanced Analytics Manager, you will be the primary analytics partner for a defined group of Business Banking stakeholders. You will work with them to understand their strategy, identify high-value analytical opportunities and shape a prioritised roadmap of work. 

This is a hands-on role. You will combine stakeholder leadership and product thinking with strong technical capability across Python, machine learning and analytics engineering. You will also remain comfortable working with the team’s established SQL and BI ecosystem, including Tableau and Alteryx. 

You will help the team evolve from predominantly traditional reporting and BI toward more scalable advanced analytics, generative AI and intelligent agent solutions.

In This Role, You Will 

• Act as the primary analytics partner for a defined stakeholder group, building a strong understanding of its strategy, priorities and business challenges. 

• Identify and shape analytical opportunities, translate ambiguous problems into clear requirements and define measurable outcomes. 

• Manage and prioritise an analytics roadmap, balancing stakeholder value, delivery effort, technical feasibility and strategic alignment. 

• Communicate recommendations, trade-offs and progress clearly to senior stakeholders and technical teams. 

• Develop advanced analytical solutions using Python, SQL and machine learning techniques. 

• Build and evaluate machine learning models, including data preparation, feature engineering, model selection, validation, interpretation and performance assessment. 

• Prototype and develop generative AI and intelligent agent solutions that address practical business problems. 

• Apply responsible AI, data governance, privacy, risk and control considerations throughout the development process. 

• Use software engineering practices such as version control, modular development, testing, documentation and peer review to create maintainable analytical products. 

• Work comfortably in development environments such as VS Code and collaborate with engineering, data and platform teams where solutions need to be productionised. 

• Use Tableau, Alteryx and other BI tools where appropriate, while identifying opportunities to automate, simplify and modernise existing solutions. 

• Support the broader team as it develops its capability across Python, machine learning, analytics engineering and AI.

Essential experience 

• Strong stakeholder-management skills, including experience partnering with senior stakeholders and translating business priorities into analytical work. 

• Experience acting as a product owner, analytics partner, consultant or trusted adviser for a business area or stakeholder portfolio. 

• Strong hands-on Python capability, with experience developing analytical solutions in a professional environment. 

• Demonstrated experience building, testing and evaluating machine learning models against real business problems. 

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets. 

• Confidence working in development environments such as VS Code. 

• Experience with software development practices such as Git, reusable code, testing, documentation and code review. 

• The ability to explain complex analytical concepts and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

• A proactive and pragmatic approach to solving ambiguous problems and delivering measurable outcomes. 

• Strong attention to data quality, accuracy, governance and control. 

Experience that would be highly regarded 

• Experience developing generative AI applications, large language model workflows or intelligent agents. 

• Familiarity with techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, agent evaluation, guardrails and human oversight. 

• Experience productionising analytical or machine learning solutions in partnership with engineering or platform teams. 

• Experience with cloud platforms, machine learning operations or automated deployment practices. 

• Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI or similar BI platforms. 

• Teradata experience. 

• Software development, data engineering or analytics engineering experience. 

• Knowledge of banking, finance or financial products.
