Responsibilities
Identify and implement improvements to reduce product cost and improve quality; Ensure maximum safety, quality, and utilization of manufacturing equipment; Facilitate continuous research and implementation of best practice manufacturing methods; Assist in developing and implementing the Manufacturing/Quality Engineering Strategic plan; Facilitate new product introductions and product modifications; Review and quote processing and production equipment; Ensure effective documentation and control systems; Assist in recommending and administering the capital plan; Close customer 8Ds; Determine and coordinate the purchase and implementation of new equipment and processes; Review and make disposition on non-conforming materials; Prepare and make presentations to customers and management; Lead and champion a teamwork approach with Production Teams and AQP Steering Committee; Provide technical leadership, training, and support to manufacturing teams; Lead, motivate, and develop employees including hiring, development, and succession planning; Continually improve health, safety, and environment; Manage day-to-day production inventory; Facilitate throughput improvement processes; Actively participate in identifying and implementing scrap reduction plans; Facilitate process ownership using SPC and check-sheets; Promote workforce diversity; Maintain a work environment where third-party intervention is not required; Develop specific work procedures to minimize risks; Train employees on procedures and enforce their use; Facilitate workplace inspections and closure of findings; Facilitate employee involvement in developing safety and health procedures; Perform timely incident investigations and correction of root causes; Participate in safety meetings and training; Track safety issues to closure.
