In our optimized CIP Platform, CIP Terra Technologies – a project delivery company delivering projects from onshore wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems, to bioenergy, thermal and transmission infrastructure – is currently looking for Commercial Analyst to join the team in Melbourne, Australia.
Team
The chosen candidate will become part of the growing CIPTT team with offices across Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney & Brisbane. Regular travel between offices may be required. The team currently consists of ~25 employees with renewable energy backgrounds. The CIPTT team in Australia is delivering some of the largest renewable energy projects in Australia across BESS, onshore wind and pumped hydro.
Role
We are seeking a Part-Time Commercial Analyst to support the commercial team across CIPTT's Australian portfolio of renewable energy projects. This role is intended for a university student currently undertaking a relevant degree and looking to gain practical experience alongside their studies. The role reports to the Commercial Director and preferably based in Melbourne, although Sydney, Brisbane or Newcastle will also be considered.
The Commercial Analyst will support the commercial development, governance and reporting of projects from inception through development, financial close and into operations. Working closely with development, engineering, procurement, legal and commercial teams, the role will be responsible for coordinating inputs across project workstreams, tracking key milestones and risks, and preparing high-quality reporting for CIP's governance and investment decision-making processes.
The ideal candidate will play an important role in ensuring project status, risks, opportunities and key decisions are clearly captured and communicated to internal stakeholders. The role offers exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle and the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects.

The Commercial Analyst will provide broad support to the commercial team across CIPTT's Australian renewable energy portfolio. Working closely with development, technical, engineering, procurement and commercial stakeholders, the role will help coordinate project activities, maintain governance and reporting processes, and ensure key project information is accurately captured and communicated. The position offers exposure across the full project lifecycle and plays an important role in supporting effective decision-making, project delivery and portfolio management. The responsibilities include:
• Support the commercial development and management of CIPTT's portfolio of renewable energy projects.
• Coordinate inputs across development, technical, engineering, procurement and commercial workstreams to support project delivery and decision-making.
• Prepare high-quality project reporting, presentations and governance materials for internal management, investment committees and other stakeholders.
• Track key project milestones, risks, opportunities, decisions and action items, maintaining accurate project reporting and documentation.
• Assist in the preparation and review of project budgets, schedules, commercial evaluations and business case materials.
• Support procurement and contracting activities, including maintaining contract registers, tracking obligations and coordinating stakeholder inputs.
• Support governance processes by preparing meeting materials and documenting outcomes and actions.
• Maintain project data rooms, reporting tools and document management systems to ensure information remains accurate, current and accessible.
• Support the management of external advisors, consultants and counterparties by coordinating information requests, deliverables and reporting requirements.
• Monitor project performance indicators and prepare concise summaries of project progress, key issues and recommended actions.
• Work collaboratively across the CIPTT team to identify process improvements and promote consistency in reporting, governance and project controls across the portfolio.
• Undertake commercial analysis and research to support strategic initiatives, market assessments and project development activities as required.
You
We are looking for a motivated and well-rounded individual who is currently completing, or has recently completed, a relevant university degree. Prior internship, vacation program, part-time within renewable energy, infrastructure, consulting, engineering, construction, or a related commercial environment. The selected candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and keen to learn, with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting the development of large-scale renewable energy projects.
We look for the following in a candidate:
• Relevant tertiary studies in Commerce, Business, Economics, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholder inputs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
• Solid attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Demonstrated structured and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify key issues and communicate findings effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage assigned tasks and consistently deliver outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
• A collaborative mindset, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• An interest in renewable energy, infrastructure and the energy transition.
