Job Description:
Datacenter Hardware Engineering (DHE) within the DCG Platform & System Engineering group is responsible for end-to-end data center hardware development, spanning package, board, and system design for both general-purpose computing and AI platforms. These platforms enable silicon validation, customer reference designs, and ecosystem development across Xeon and GPU product lines.
Join our team as a Senior System Software/Firmware Engineer, where you will design, develop, and validate system software and firmware for complex platforms within Intel's product ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into robust, scalable implementations.
## Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Product Line Marketing, Architecture, and System Hardware Engineering to understand product and system requirements and translate them into modular design components.
- Design and implement abstractions of low-level hardware functionality for higher-level software and firmware layers.
- Decompose designs into achievable work items and tasks with clear ownership, dependencies and execution plans.
- Participate in board, platform, and module power on and bringup activities.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality, security, and functional correctness.
- Test and validate implementations to ensure alignment with system and product requirements.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex technical issues and enhance firmware functionality.
- Apply disciplined execution practices and follow secure development lifecycle standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technology innovation efforts.
## Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience programming in C, C++, and Python.
- Familiarity with data center system software and firmware. Hands-on experience delivering components such as UEFI, BMC, and device drivers.
- Experience developing software, firmware, or device drivers for operating systems including Linux, FreeBSD, NIOS, and Windows.
- Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and development processes.
- Experience with end-to-end software/firmware lifecycle practices.
