Responsibilities
Establish and manage project cost control procedures and systems throughout the project lifecycle. Develop and maintain the project budget, cost breakdown structure and cost control reports. Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets and committed costs. Track project commitments, procurement costs, subcontract costs, variations and potential cost exposures. Prepare monthly cost reports, cost forecasts and financial performance reports for management review. Monitor cost movements and identify potential cost overruns, savings opportunities and financial risks. Review subcontractor and supplier commitments, payment applications and variation costs. Assist in evaluating variations, claims and other commercial matters from a cost-control perspective. Monitor project cash flow, expenditure forecasts and projected final costs. Prepare and update the Estimate at Completion (EAC), Cost to Complete (CTC) and other project cost forecasts. Analyse cost variances and provide explanations and recommendations to the Project Director and senior management. Ensure that approved budgets and cost commitments are properly recorded and controlled. Review procurement and subcontract packages to monitor their impact on the overall project budget. Work closely with the Planning team to align project progress, programme status and cost performance. Support earned value, progress measurement and cost-to-progress analysis where applicable. Assist in the preparation of management reports, project forecasts and financial presentations. Monitor potential commercial and contractual risks that may affect project costs. Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained for project cost information. Support project close-out, final cost reconciliation and preparation of final project cost reports. Provide guidance and support to cost control engineers, quantity surveyors and project team members.
