Responsibilities
Deep dive into engineering Bill of Material (BOM) to ensure parts can be sourced and procured at reasonable target levels; Conduct supplier selection and onboard unique vendors; Drive on-time delivery using unique solutions to break traditional lead-times; Partner with strategic suppliers for concept scoping, feature trade-offs, should-cost models, and joint design development; Drive development and consolidation of manufacturing BOM; Manage total cost of the program including NPI and mass production; Conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time; Complete BOM risk assessment including alternate component sourcing; Ensure completion of all component qualifications; Reduce complexity through commonality optimization and supplier rationalization; Lead cost engineering activities to converge cost curves; Manage ad-hoc cost issues such as tariffs and inflation; Manage supply issues to ensure on-time delivery at or below target cost.
