As a Web Solutions Engineer on the YouTube Business Technology team, you will be responsible for managing solutions that make the broader YouTube organization more efficient. Your efforts will launch quickly and have an immediate impact on those around you.
You will be working as a part of an engineering team responsible for developing and supporting tools, prototyping proofs-of-concept, and writing/reviewing technical design documents to meet the needs of our services teams. You will adhere to Google’s software development best practices and work in close partnership with other project/product management and engineering teams.
We are a team that provides efficient and delightful solutions for our support communities to increase the loyalty of the ecosystem of YouTube users. The team designs and develops a variety of tools and systems that are used by YouTube support agents, partners, and users.
The Web Solution Engineers (WSEs) on the Support Systems team work across a number of different projects/products. Currently engineers will adjust the projects they are working on based on the need but are primarily focused on a full stack development including (listed in terms of headcount allocated):
Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in full-stack software development and system design.
- Experience with frontend languages (e.g. JavaScript or TypeScript).
- Experience with backend languages (e.g. Java, Python, or C++).
- Experience working with database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).
- 2 years of experience with site reliability engineering, information security or DevOps practices.
- 2 years of experience as a tech lead or engineering manager.
- Knowledge of technical constraints designing for web technologies.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and improve elegant, scalable, and modern full-stack web applications using standard and Google-specific software development tools. This may include ensuring reliable backends, building pipelines to aggregate data from multiple sources, implementing responsive and UX-rich frontends, or enhancing performance of existing tools and services.
- Analyze problems and develop solutions, while identifying dependencies and resolving issues to drive implementation.
- Make technical contributions, including writing and reviewing design documents, tests, and code (e.g., JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, SQL).
- Provide subject-matter expertise and utilize comprehensive knowledge of Google's relevant technologies, principles, practices, and coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional users and stakeholders to identify pain points and devise innovative technical solutions.
