## About the Role As Tech Co-founder & Director of Technology, you will own the entire technical vision and execution. You will build the first version of the product, lead the engineering team, and evolve into the CTO as we grow. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role—expect to code 60-80% of the time initially, then transition to leadership as we hire. As we are currently pre-revenue, we're unable to offer a fixed compensation. For now, we can only work on an equity basis. If this interests you, please get in touch with us at: [email protected] ## Key Responsibilities - Product Development (0→1): Architect, build, and deploy the MVP and subsequent product iterations. - Write clean, scalable, secure, and tested code (full-stack as needed). - Make pragmatic technology choices that balance speed, cost, and future flexibility. - Own infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, and DevOps. - Technical Strategy & Roadmap: Define the technology roadmap aligned with business milestones (fundraising, pilot customers, scaling). - Lead architectural decisions (monolith vs microservices, cloud provider, database, frontend framework). - Manage technical debt and plan refactoring sprints. - Team Building & Leadership: Recruit, interview, and onboard the first engineering hires (junior to senior). - Establish engineering culture, code reviews, documentation standards, and agile processes. - Mentor and grow the technical team as Director of Technology. - Co-founder Duties: Participate in strategic decisions (pricing, fundraising, hiring, partnerships). - Communicate technical progress and risks to non-technical co-founders, investors, and early customers. - Support customer discovery and sales calls as the technical expert. - Contribute to investor decks, due diligence, and technical demos. - Security, Compliance & Operations: Implement security best practices (auth, data protection, backups). - Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA – if applicable). - Manage cloud costs and vendor relationships. At present we must focus on equity. Later, when we have funds or revenue, we will work on fixed compensation. [email protected] ## Who You Are ### Essential (Must-Have) - Founder mindset: You think in terms of business value, not just elegant code. You're comfortable with ambiguity and rapid priority shifts. - Full-stack ability: You can ship a working web/mobile app independently. (e.g., React/Next.js + Node/Python/Go + Postgres + cloud deployment). - Proven builder: You've built and launched at least one digital product (side project, freelance, or professional) used by real users. - Product instinct: You can translate vague requirements into a working solution and push back constructively on non-essential features. - Resourceful: You know when to use off-the-shelf tools vs. custom code. - Low ego & high ownership: No task is too small (fixing a bug at midnight, responding to a customer issue). ### Strongly Preferred - Experience as a founding engineer or early employee at a startup (<20 people). - Familiarity with fundraising (tech due diligence, cap tables, investor updates). - Basic DevOps skills (AWS/GCP, Docker, CI/CD pipelines). - Some domain expertise in [e.g., fintech, AI, marketplaces, healthtech]. ### Nice to Have - Existing network of engineering talent you can recruit. - Open source contributions or technical writing.
