Learn more about us on our website, YouTube channel, and blog. ## About the Role We're looking for a YouTube Channel Manager to own and grow Exponent's YouTube presence. This is a hands-on role that spans content operations, video production, SEO, and channel strategy. You will act as a content creator and "think like a YouTuber." Because our content covers technical topics (software engineering interviews, system design, data science, and more), you need a CS-adjacent background. Experience with programming, data analysis, or related technical domains is essential for evaluating what content to create, how to title and position it, and what to repurpose. This role starts at 20 hours per week, with a path to full-time as we grow. ## Responsibilities ### Channel & Content Operations - Own and maintain the Video Engine board (our production tracker). It should be 100% accurate at the end of each week, reflecting the current production status of every video so that anyone on the team can check it at any time and know exactly what's happening and what's coming next. - Get us to a 2x weekly posting cadence. - Engage with our audience. Respond to comments, publish community posts, and maintain a consistent channel voice that reflects our brand. - Connect with curriculum stakeholders to determine which videos need accompanying curriculum versions behind our website paywall. ### SEO & Title Optimization - Use YouTube SEO best practices and search-powered tools to identify high-performing title candidates for new videos. - Run A/B tests on titles to maximize click-through and discoverability. ### Video Production & Editing - Create thumbnails for every video. - Chop long-form content into social clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok. Experiment with formats and observe what performs. - Proficiency in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro to produce derivative clips independently. ### Talent & Content Development - Source and manage video hosts to increase our production output. Be comfortable prepping hosts with scripts, writing questions, and building outlines for filming. - Pitch and produce new video ideas, getting buy-in from the team to bring them to life. - Maintain Exponent's quality standards across all published videos. ### Key Performance Indicators - YouTube channel growth for our target audience segments: views, subscriber growth rate (revenue is not a priority metric). - Down-funnel signups and sales across all videos and links, tracked in Mixpanel. - Performance reporting in Notion on a regular cadence. ## What We're Looking For ### Required - Technical background — CS-adjacent experience (programming, data analysis, or similar). You need to understand the topics our audience cares about to make smart content decisions. - YouTube channel management experience — You've managed a channel before and understand the platform's mechanics: algorithm behavior, CTR, audience retention, SEO, thumbnails, and posting cadence. - Video editing skills — Proficient in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro. Able to independently produce clips and short-form edits. - Comfortable on camera — Willing and able to appear on camera yourself when needed, whether that's hosting content, recording intros, or filling in as on-screen talent. ### Preferred - Marketing or growth experience — Familiarity with growth strategy, audience development, or content marketing. - Comfort with AI tools — Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to accelerate workflows. We manage hundreds of videos and need someone who works efficiently at scale. - Familiarity with Notion and Mixpanel (or similar project management and analytics tools). ## Your First 90 Days ### Month 1 — Learn the Engine - Get fully comfortable with our video production workflow: how content is scheduled, posted, and moved through the Video Engine. Build clarity on our processes, standards, and team dynamics. ### Month 2 — Activate the Back Catalog - Turn existing long-form video content into social clips. Goal: leverage our back catalog to produce and post one short-form video per day across platforms. ### Month 3 — Drive New Content - Begin pitching and producing original video ideas. Get buy-in from the team and bring new content to life — including flagging where we need new hosts and proposing topics you believe will perform well strategically. ## To Apply Please include: - Your resume and/or portfolio. - Links to YouTube channels you've managed or contributed to, with growth metrics or results if available.
