## About the Role Judicaid is building AI-assisted legal software. We're a small, technical founding team that moves fast and is backed by early traction. We need a versatile engineer who can operate across the full stack without needing to hand off work. On any given week you might be fixing a Stripe webhook edge case, writing an Alembic migration, wiring up a new React page, or adjusting Terraform config for a new Azure resource. You won't be siloed. This is not a senior architect role. We're looking for someone earlier in their career who is hungry, picks things up fast, and wants real ownership in a product that matters. We'll invest in your growth. This is a 6 month contract. ## What You'll Work On ### Backend - FastAPI endpoints (Python) with SQLAlchemy ORM - Alembic database migrations (PostgreSQL) - LLM integrations (Anthropic/OpenAI) and prompt iteration - Auth flows, background tasks, webhook handling ### Frontend - React 18 / TypeScript / Vite - Tailwind CSS for all styling - React Query for data fetching, React Router for navigation - UI fixes, new feature pages, responsive behavior ### Infrastructure and Data - Azure cloud resources managed with Terraform - Docker Compose for local dev and deployment config - PostgreSQL schema design and query performance - Azure Functions for async/scheduled jobs ## Must-haves - 2–4 years shipping production code across both frontend and backend - Comfortable in Python and TypeScript — you don't need to switch mental modes between them - SQL fluency where you can write a migration and reason about indexes without Googling the syntax - Hands-on with at least one cloud provider (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP fine) - Basic IaC experience (Terraform). You don't need to be an expert, but you shouldn't be afraid of it - Self-driven with clear communication to meld an idea with design to ship powerful and simple features. ## Nice to have - Experience with FastAPI or similar async Python frameworks - Prior work at an early-stage startup - Familiarity with LLM APIs or AI-integrated products - DocuSign, Stripe, or other third-party integrations ## What to Expect - Small team, direct communication — no JIRA sprints managed by a PM layer - You'll have context on the whole product, not just your queue - Contract structured to convert at funding close, we'll be transparent about timeline - Async-first, but expect regular syncs with the founding team ## How to Apply Email [email protected] with: - A short paragraph on something you built end-to-end (what the stack was, what your role was, what was hard) - Links to any relevant work (GitHub, deployed apps, etc.) - Your availability and when you could start We don't do take-home coding tests for this role. First call is a technical conversation.
