## About the Role
We're seeking a versatile, strategic developer who can own the full lifecycle of our internal tech transformation—not just build features, but think architecturally, prioritize impact, and self-manage projects end-to-end. You'll serve as our in-house technical strategist and builder: auditing workflows, defining and managing a product roadmap, planning and executing sprints, designing robust architectures, and delivering custom AI-powered tools and integrations that make our team dramatically more efficient.
A critical dimension of this role is staying continuously ahead of the AI landscape—actively monitoring emerging tools, models, and capabilities and proactively bringing the most relevant developments to bear on our work. Equally important is ensuring our team doesn't just have access to new tools, but truly understands and adopts them through comprehensive, ongoing training and support.
This is a high-autonomy role ideal for someone who combines strong engineering skills with product and project thinking—someone who can translate business pain points into scalable, maintainable solutions while proactively managing timelines, trade-offs, and the evolution of our systems.
## Key Responsibilities
### AI Horizon Monitoring & Strategic Recommendations
- Serve as the agency's dedicated AI intelligence function: continuously monitor the rapidly evolving AI landscape—new models, tools, platforms, integrations, and industry-specific applications—and deliver regular briefings and recommendations to leadership.
- Proactively identify emerging technologies relevant to the marketing communications industry and assess their potential impact on our workflows, client outcomes, and competitive positioning.
- Translate AI developments into actionable recommendations, ensuring Reputation Partners is always positioned to benefit from the right tools at the right time—before competitors do.
### Product Development & Management
- Implement and manage a Product Roadmap: identify opportunities to develop proprietary products that improve client outcomes and differentiate the agency from its competitive set.
- Manage and iterate upon proprietary tools to ensure the agency remains on the forefront of technological changes relevant to the marketing communications industry.
- Define requirements, architect solutions, break work into manageable sprints/milestones, prioritize backlogs, track progress, and deliver iteratively with regular demos and feedback loops.
### Team Training & Adoption
- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs—including written materials, video guides, and live sessions—covering every tool, platform, or custom solution the agency purchases or builds.
- Ensure team members not only understand how to use new tools but develop genuine proficiency and confidence, with training tailored to communications professionals rather than technical audiences.
- Champion adoption across the team: monitor usage, identify gaps, and proactively offer refreshers, advanced sessions, or updated materials as tools evolve.
- Establish and communicate best practices for all agency product investments as they apply to client work.
### Agency Workflow Efficiencies
- In collaboration with agency leadership, identify low-skill and labor-intensive tasks and workflows used across client teams, and identify AI-based solutions to reduce dependencies on manual, inefficient processes.
- Partner closely with leadership and operations to deeply understand workflows (e.g., client reporting, media monitoring, content drafting/review, crisis tracking) and identify high-ROI opportunities for AI and automation.
- Identify ways to maximize the agency's SaaS investments through integrations with proprietary tools and processes to enhance strategic and tactical outputs.
- Develop integrations and automations connecting daily tools (e.g., JUMA, CRM, Microsoft 365/Copilot, Teams, document systems).
### Architecture & Engineering
- Design thoughtful system architectures—considering security, scalability, maintainability, data privacy (critical for client confidentiality), cost, and future extensibility—before writing code.
- Build and deploy custom AI tools using LLMs (e.g., OpenAI/GPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or open-source models), including prompt engineering, RAG, function calling, and agentic workflows.
- Implement hybrid approaches: leverage low-code (Xano, Replit, Base64) for quick wins, then build custom code where performance, security, or complexity demands it.
- Provide clear documentation, handover support, and ongoing guidance so the team can adopt, maintain, and evolve these systems independently over time.
## Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience with strong full-stack or backend skills (Node.js/TypeScript/JavaScript also excellent).
- Proven, hands-on expertise with LLMs and AI APIs—including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Grok, Hugging Face, and similar—with advanced experience in RAG, agents, and prompt optimization.
- Microsoft Copilot familiarity is required: the agency has already rolled out Copilot and will continue to use it as a core tool. This person must be able to help the team maximize its value, identify use cases, and integrate it with any additional tools we purchase or build.
- Demonstrated AI landscape awareness: a track record of proactively staying current on AI developments and translating that knowledge into practical recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Training and enablement experience: demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programs that drive genuine adoption among non-technical users, not just one-off demos or documentation handoffs.
- Demonstrated project management and strategic thinking: experience planning/leading projects or sprints, defining milestones, managing scope/timelines, handling trade-offs, and delivering iteratively.
