Backend Engineer Intern

## About the role Backend Intern to Full-Time Opportunity HelioAI (helioai.tech) HelioAI is building a reliable AI concierge for Shopify brands, helping shoppers get accurate answers, discover products faster, and complete purchases with confidence, while reducing support workload for brands. We're looking for a Backend Intern with hands-on Node.js experience who can dedicate 6–8 hours a day and wants to work on real production systems across Shopify + AI infrastructure. This role begins as a 4-month internship. Based on performance, consistency, and ownership, it can be converted into a full-time role. The same structure applies to compensation as well: an internship stipend during the first 4 months, followed by a revised full-time salary upon conversion. Fresh graduates are welcome too if you've built real projects, enjoy solving backend problems, and love shipping fast. ## What you'll do - Build backend services using Node.js + TypeScript - Integrate Shopify Admin APIs (REST/GraphQL) and webhooks - Create reliable workflows with retries, rate limits, and idempotency - Work on caching, background jobs, and performance improvements - Improve logging, monitoring, and backend stability - Ship small, clean PRs with clear updates and consistent delivery ## What you'll work on - Shopify onboarding, store sync, and webhook pipelines - Billing and usage tracking across monthly and variable plans - Conversation-to-order attribution infrastructure - AI-powered tools for catalog fetch, order status, policies, and FAQs ## Skills we're looking for - Strong basics in Node.js, TypeScript, Express/Fastify - Working knowledge of MongoDB or Postgres - Understanding of Redis and caching fundamentals - Good debugging mindset and clean coding habits - Bonus if you've worked with BullMQ, queues, GraphQL, or Shopify apps ## Why this role - Work on real production systems, not dummy assignments - Ship features weekly and learn by building - Get direct exposure to AI + ecommerce infrastructure - Opportunity to move from internship to full-time based on performance ## How to apply Send your Resume + GitHub + links to 2 projects you've built to: https://www.linkedin.com/in/prkskrs/
