Clinical Research Assistant - UOD2255
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Clinical Research Assistant and Biologics multidisciplinary (MDT) administrator within our Respiratory Medicine and Gastroenterology team, to coordinate the NHS Tayside Asthma Biologics MDT.
This is a fixed -term appointment for 1 year.
The post holder will work under the supervision of Dr Rory Chan, to provide research support for our respiratory research group, a multidisciplinary team conducting clinical research into important lung conditions such as asthma and COPD. The main duties of the post, for which full training will be given, involve ensuring the successful running of the NHS Tayside Biologics MDT, a regional patient database. Recruiting volunteers into studies, accurate data collection and database entry are also significant parts of the job. Testing of pulmonary and nasal function, maintenance and calibration of equipment, biological sample handling and prep aration of solutions for bronchial challenge testing may also be required.
The successful candidate should have a qualification in a science or health related subject. Previous experience of any of the above or working with the public would be advantageous. It is important the applicants can work as part of a team. Candidates must have good communication skills and feel comfortable talking to patients.
Your priorities will include:
Coordinate the NHS Tayside Asthma Biologics MDT.
Provide effective and efficient research support to our respiratory research group
Assist in the identification, screening and recruitment of eligible patients to studies
Produce, collate and record accurate data on behalf of our research studies
Perform clinical and physiological measurements on research participants as appropriate, examples of which may include vital signs, height and weight, venepuncture and spirometry
Data entry on research databases and Electronic Data Capture systems
Assist in the review of research protocols, procedures and study files, contributing to their development where appropriate
Who weβre looking for:
Educated degree level in a science or health related subject (or equiva lent)
Experience of clinical research
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Methodical and meticulous approach to data collection and documentation
Willingness to occasionally travel to other hospitals and academic centres
