FCUP | One Research Grant – Master’s Degree - iChem4M (B5)
Role Overview:
The role is a research grant for a Master’s Degree holder within the framework of the iChem4M (B5) project. The position involves contributing to various project activities related to science education, communication, and citizen science initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, updating, and managing the project website, including content organization, document repositories, and integration of the Citizen Science platform.
- Participating in the design and implementation of studies on social representations and alternative futures related to critical raw materials using participatory methodologies.
- Supporting the development of data visualization tools, including infographics, maps, timelines, and interactive graphics for different audiences.
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating Citizen Science initiatives aimed at students, teachers, and the general public, promoting societal engagement in data collection, sharing, and analysis.
- Promoting educational activities, workshops, online forums, and debate sessions, as well as producing dissemination content and co-creation activities to raise awareness of sustainability and responsible use of critical raw materials.
- Participating in the evaluation of project activities through data collection and analysis from internal and external participants.
- Preparing and submitting scientific articles to national and international journals.
- Communicating project results at scientific conferences and other forums to different audiences and entities.
Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Science Education and Communication, Exact or Natural Sciences, Teaching of Exact or Natural Sciences, Engineering or Technology, or related fields.
- Enrollment in a PhD program in the aforementioned fields or in courses that do not confer an academic degree.
- Preference for candidates with interest and experience in science education and communication, particularly in chemistry.
- Published work in journals or conference proceedings involving qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques.
- Proven experience in using data analysis software such as NVivo and SPSS.
- Experience in developing citizen science projects, educational projects, or science communication initiatives.
- Experience interacting with students, teachers, educators, and the general public.
- Experience and skills in the digital field, particularly in web content management and data visualization.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Demonstrated interest in digital literature and the humanities.
- Foreign qualifications must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution.
Qualifications:
- Academic qualifications will be assessed based on grades obtained in relevant degrees.
- Published work in journals or conference proceedings involving data collection and analysis techniques.
- Experience with data analysis software.
- Experience in citizen science, educational, or science communication projects.
- Teaching experience with students at different educational levels and interaction with teachers and the public.
- Digital skills in web content management and data visualization.
- Good English language skills.
- Interest in digital literature and the humanities.
