Requirements:
We require at least 2 years of management experience. We need 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking tied to construction and project execution. We require a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. We expect knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in critical data center operations, such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units. We value prior experience in management. We look for experience hiring, developing, and leading high-performing technical teams. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA. Preferred experience includes owning the operation of a mission-critical team or product. Preferred experience includes large-scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms. Preferred experience includes process improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
Responsibilities:
We own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for new construction and capital projects. We oversee construction project management and related site activities. We partner with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to deliver data centers that support our customers. We serve as the owners representative on construction sites and work directly with trades. We act as Amazons construction representative across multiple data center and capital improvement sites from kickoff through handoff to operations. We work directly with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases. We create scopes of work and requests for proposals. We negotiate with contractors and assess bids and proposals carefully and accurately. We manage cost, schedule, and quality while coordinating contractors and vendors. We handle project documentation, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule control. We troubleshoot equipment issues and drive root-cause failure analysis. We support commissioning, integrated system testing, and oversight. We assist with facility operations by reviewing procedures, best practices, and maintenance efforts. We support capital request development. We analyze and report construction progress and financial performance. We track and report key construction metrics to leadership and team members. We contribute to initiatives that improve construction efficiency and data center resiliency. We provide constructability reviews for civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical designs. We lead within the group and across internal and external data center support teams. We manage the day-to-day workload of the CM team and coordinate with internal AWS managers and teammates.
