Sr. Construction Manager, Data Centers

Salary: $170,000 - 210,000 per year
Requirements:
We want experience in construction management or construction program management for large, complex projects, especially those involving substantial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. We need experience delivering data center builds, mission-critical facilities, or similar industrial/manufacturing environments from design through commissioning and construction. We value hands-on experience with electrical systems, including large-scale power distribution and generation equipment, as well as mechanical systems such as cooling infrastructure. We look for a strong background in project controls, including cost and/or schedule management, and in building construction programmes for infrastructure and mission-critical work in both site and preconstruction settings. We require a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering discipline plus 7 years of experience, or 12+ years of related construction management experience in place of a degree. Preferred: experience with environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance work, including CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural/cultural resource reviews. Preferred: familiarity with project controls standards such as estimating, cost tracking, forecasting, schedule management, progress measurement, change control, risk management, WBS/CBS/SBS, cash flow, and benchmarking. Preferred: experience with environmental compliance, waste management, regulatory and liability assessments, permit applications, EIAs, and water discharge requirements. Preferred: a bachelors degree in Construction Management.
Responsibilities:
We own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for new construction and general capital projects. We lead construction project management and oversee construction-related activities end to end. We partner with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to deliver data centers that support our customers. We serve as the owners representative on construction sites and engage directly with trades and contractors. We act as Amazons construction representative across multiple data center and capital improvement sites from construction start through handoff to operations. We handle contractor engagement throughout bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases. We prepare project scopes and requests for proposals. We negotiate with general contractors and assess bids and proposals carefully and accurately. We manage cost, schedule, and quality while coordinating contractors and vendors. We oversee project documentation, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, scope, and schedule tracking. We drive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures. We support commissioning, integrated system testing, and related oversight. We help operations teams with procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives for installed facilities. We support capital request development. We analyze and report construction progress and financial performance. We track and communicate key construction metrics to the team and leadership. We contribute to initiatives that improve construction efficiency and strengthen data center resilience. We provide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs in new and existing data centers.
