Controls Engineer

Salary: $111,300 - 186,100 per year
Requirements:
We require US citizenship and the ability to hold an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; after joining, you must obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and meet additional security requirements. You need experience taking new design concepts from early exploration through development and deployment or mass production. You should be proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems. You need experience with power management and power monitoring systems. You should have 5+ years of construction management experience on large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. You need 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking. You must have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, or 10+ years of relevant controls experience in place of a degree. You need 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, or water facilities.
Responsibilities:
We troubleshoot control systems for AWS data centers and perform root cause analysis or corrective actions. We apply controls fundamentals to manage the scope of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) in live AWS data centers. We train and support internal customers and stakeholders on the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS. We provide technical support to operations throughout the data center lifecycle. We review quarterly maintenance findings and action items for BMS and EPMS and drive them to resolution. We define scope of work, schedules, budgets, and level of effort estimates for BMS and EPMS projects requested by customers and stakeholders. We manage scope, schedule, financials, and execution for BMS and EPMS improvement projects across AWS data centers. We support procurement activities, including RFQs/RFPs, RFIs, vendor proposal reviews, and purchase order issuance. We participate in the global on-call rotation to deliver immediate BMS and EPMS support to operating data centers. We attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and report status to Controls and stakeholder management. We support commissioning activities for Controls projects in the data centers. We review, implement, troubleshoot, and refine control sequences of operation and provide feedback to the design team. We develop and adapt controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces. We manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate complex situations effectively. We oversee the financial management of BMS and EPMS service contracts. We regularly visit assigned operating data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work to ensure alignment with scope, design, sequence of operation, and local codes.
