Mentor and enable peers on the mainframe platform; analyze, design, and maintain z/OS system-level solutions; identify complex system-level issues and deliver reliable fixes; review, validate, and approve system changes and automation; develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery and redundancy strategies; perform hands-on z/OS administration including IPLs, startup, shutdown, and parameter tuning; plan, implement, and validate IBM and ISV software installations and upgrades; manage SMP/E environments including PTFs and USERMODs; install, analyze, and adjust system exits and USERMODs; build and maintain resident DASD volumes and system libraries; configure and administer JES2; administer RACF security; write, debug, and optimize JCL for batch processing; analyze SMF/RMF data for capacity planning and performance tuning; configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP for z/OS; develop automation and tools with REXX, CLIST, and UNIX System Services scripting; use monitoring tools such as BMC MainView and Intellimagic Vision; support mainframe hardware environments including HMC operations and CPC/LPAR configuration; participate in on-call rotations and ITIL-aligned incident, change, and problem management; coordinate with vendors and ISVs for licensing and problem diagnosis; create and maintain documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and operational procedures.
