Cybersecurity Engineer - PTO & Paid Leave
Salary: $100,000 - 156,000 per year
Requirements:
We require two years of program-specific security engineering experience with Navy afloat or tactical combat systems, or five years of general security engineering experience. We require two of those five years of engineering experience to be on Combat Weapons Systems such as Aegis, SSDS, Zumwalt, or other Navy afloat tactical combat systems. We require certification at IAT Level II or Level III under DoD 8570.01, or the successor standard, when serving as an ISSO or ISSE. We expect a solid understanding of computer security, military system specifications, and DoD cybersecurity policies for both land-based and afloat or tactical systems. We need strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely. We prefer candidates with CASP, Security+, or CISSP certifications. A bachelors degree in Cybersecurity is preferred. We require an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a clearance.
Responsibilities:
We author DoD Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization artifacts. We document systems from a cybersecurity perspective using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Visio, along with other appropriate applications. We derive, document, and identify system CONOPS for Mission Assurance Categorization under DoDI 8500.2. We research and recommend logical and physical controls that prevent, detect, and correct issues so systems can be certified and accredited. We apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and NSA guidance. We identify gaps between as-built specifications, security requirements, and DoD security policies, and recommend remediation approaches. We author and update system requirements and specifications to align with DoD security policy. We perform vulnerability testing using manual methods, ACAS, and other appropriate IA and security tools. We plan, execute, and document risk assessments against known vulnerabilities. We analyze connectivity relationships between U.S. Naval warfare systems and interfacing equipment, both physical and virtual. We lead and perform ISSO duties as the primary point of contact for security matters related to assigned information systems. We define an Information Assurance Vulnerability Management plan. We plan, execute, and document security test results. We support the development of cybersecurity requirements, policy standards, best practices, guidance, and procedures for combat systems. We conduct cybersecurity research, analysis, and coordination in support of DoD cyber assurance and policy efforts across multiple classification levels. We participate in working groups to develop cybersecurity strategies for emerging threats. We help analyze policy gaps in cybersecurity, intelligence, and information technology for combat systems. We support cybersecurity systems engineering design, analysis, and documentation for combat systems. We help develop cybersecurity risk assessments, mitigation plans, and related documentation for combat systems.
