Controls Technician, Data Center Capacity
Salary: $66,560 - 118,560 per year
Requirements:
We need at least 3 years of experience with motor controls, such as motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components, or a bachelors degree. We need an associates degree, trade school certification, or other accredited training in a related technical field with 1+ years of relevant industrial controls or HVAC controls experience, or 3+ years of relevant industrial or HVAC controls experience in place of a degree. We need a basic understanding of industrial control systems, including meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting with hand tools, digital meters, or calibration and diagnostic equipment in data centers, hospitals, large commercial facilities, water, power, oil and gas, or similar environments. We need 1+ years of experience working with low-voltage controls, wiring, networking signals, electrical and mechanical systems, computers, and operating systems. We need the ability to work non-standard hours, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed. Preferred: we value 5+ years of industrial controls and automation experience, or a bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or an equivalent field. Preferred: we value 4+ years of military experience. Preferred: we value experience in a data center or other mission-critical environment. Preferred: we value ISA Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher certification. Preferred: we value experience using industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS. Preferred: we value 5+ years of experience in controls, automation, construction, technical work, or a related field. Preferred: we value a demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Preferred: we value fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, plus low-voltage copper and fiber cabling. Preferred: prior AWS or Amazon experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
We support multiple data centers by deploying, servicing, and upgrading BMS and EPMS systems. We mentor and train Facilities team members on operating and controlling BMS and EPMS platforms. We audit, maintain, and manage enterprise asset management systems for BMS and EPMS installations. We manage small to medium-sized projects and programs. We perform point-to-point checkouts between field devices and controllers. We carry out first-line diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of programming code and hardware tied to BMS and EPMS in data centers. We execute provisioning tasks for servers, controllers, industrial PCs, and network configurations, including communication testing between third-party devices and controllers or servers. We install, replace, configure, and calibrate sensors. We read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel drawings, with a basic grasp of closed-loop controls, field sensor scaling, and industrial controller functions. We oversee low-voltage electrical contractors performing wiring and field device installation in line with our requirements. We provide commissioning support and systems-level testing.
