Senior Software Engineer - Melbourne

Salary: $97,000 - 207,500 per year
Requirements:
We require a bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, plus six years of experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. We look for experience with Java, ideally Java 11 or later. We expect experience writing unit tests, preferably with JUnit and Mockito. We need experience with SQL, ideally PostgreSQL. We require experience working in Linux environments. We look for experience with Java build tools, preferably Maven. We require experience using Git. We look for experience with Java IDEs, preferably NetBeans. We expect experience with collaboration tools such as Bitbucket or GitLab. We require the ability to work collaboratively in a pull-request-based workflow. We look for experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins. We require an active Top Secret clearance with SCI, or SCI eligibility. A strong background in written and verbal communication is preferred. Additional highly desired experience includes Java Enterprise development, ideally JBoss/WildFly. Experience with RESTful services, message-driven beans, CDI, and scripting languages such as Bash, Groovy, or Python is preferred. Experience with debugging, including use of the NetBeans debugger, is valued. Experience in C++, geospatial data, satellite imagery, NITF/TIFF imagery, GeoJSON, and OGC web services such as WFS/WMS is preferred. Experience supporting DoD, IC, or other national security mission environments is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
We maintain and enhance existing backend services. We design and implement new backend services and modular REST endpoints. We support customization and UI teams by creating generic, reusable services. We develop primarily in Java and work with a PostgreSQL database. We create and maintain documentation for backend services and procedures. We participate in and facilitate Technical Exchange Meetings with functional teams and stakeholders. We review code through a pull-request workflow for our own changes and those of others. We provide daily work status through scrum updates and comments in JIRA and Bitbucket. We take part in software design, code reviews, testing, and configuration management. We ensure our software solutions meet mission, security, and performance expectations.
