HCC Coder - Remote

Salary: $66,560 - 76,960 per year
Requirements:
We require an active CRC in good standing. We look for 7+ years of relevant professional experience; all applicable work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. We need 5+ years of HCC coding experience using inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines. We need 5+ years of experience auditing risk adjustment records. We need at least 1 year of production environment experience. We need intermediate knowledge of risk adjustment Medicare, ACA Commercial, and Medicaid models. We expect strong critical-thinking skills to interpret and apply coding policy. We value experience providing written and verbal feedback on coding errors and trends. We require intermediate or better proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. We need excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting. We require a high school diploma or equivalent and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Experience with retrospective and prospective chart review is preferred through the roles core work. Knowledge of HIPAA, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements is essential.
Responsibilities:
We evaluate risk adjustment codes to help ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with coding standards and best practices. We protect patient records and audit documentation by maintaining HIPAA, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. We perform retrospective and prospective chart reviews to support accurate risk adjustment reporting. We verify that provider-reported diagnosis codes are complete, specific, and supported by medical record documentation. We review medical record details to identify complete and accurate diagnosis capture aligned with CMS HCC categories. We stay current on relevant regulatory mandates and keep our work in compliance. We support audit and production activities to meet business demand and workload priorities. We provide written and verbal guidance to others regarding coding errors. We meet audit deliverables within established timelines and deadlines. We assist with special projects, including risk mitigation reviews. We act as a subject matter resource for the risk adjustment process and diagnosis coding.
