Product Marketing Engineer (Mechanical)

San Francisco💼 Full-time🗓 2026-08-01

About the Role

A fast-growing AI software company serving the hardware engineering industry is looking for a Product Marketing Engineer (Mechanical) to bridge the gap between deep technical credibility and compelling go-to-market content. This is a unique role for a mechanical engineer who is passionate about communication, storytelling, and helping fellow engineers understand and adopt powerful new tools.

You'll work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Growth to produce case studies, enablement assets, onboarding materials, and technical content that resonates with mechanical engineers — from individual contributors to executives. No formal product marketing experience is required; what matters most is your engineering foundation and your ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, persuasive narratives.

What You'll Do

• Lead creation of case studies and technical proof points that demonstrate product value to mechanical engineering audiences.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate complex technical wins into persuasive narratives for customers and prospects.

• Own customer onboarding materials, anticipating technical friction points during early adoption.

• Create sales enablement assets — including POC guides, Champion Kits, and master decks — that convert technically skeptical prospects.

• Maintain post-sales knowledge resources, including a product knowledge base and step-by-step product guides.

• Draft 2–3 deep-dive technical blog posts per quarter and contribute to newsletter copy in partnership with the Growth team.

• Act as the internal lead for website messaging and help evolve product positioning over time.

• Support webinars and demand-generation efforts with engineering-first content and technical credibility.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (dealbreaker requirement).

• 2+ years of hands-on experience working as a mechanical engineer, with direct familiarity with ME workflows and pain points.

• Demonstrated ability to document and structure technical content with measurable impact — outcomes, numbers, and ownership over final content form.

• Proven ability to translate complex mechanical engineering problems into customer-facing explanations for both engineers and executives.

Nice to Have:

• Experience producing technical content for engineering audiences (case studies, onboarding guides, champion kits, proof-of-concept materials).

• Experience creating content for website evolution, webinars, and demand-generation assets.

• MBA or demonstrated business acumen connecting technical depth to bottom-line business value.

• Experience enabling engineering customers through technical guides and knowledge base content.

• Formal product marketing experience (a plus, not required).

Mindset:

• Proof-obsessed: you prefer "show, don't tell" and take ownership over content performance.

• Strong examples of technical writing, documentation, or presentations that communicate engineering concepts and real-world impact.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $130,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience.

• Competitive benefits package typical of a well-funded early-stage tech company.

• Visa sponsorship: Not available for this role.

Location

This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be willing to work from the San Francisco office. Remote work is not available for this position.
