We are seeking an experienced Lead Java Developer to drive the design and development of enterprise-grade banking applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java-based backend development, microservices architecture, and a strong understanding of banking and financial services systems. You will lead a team of developers, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and play a critical role in delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that support business-critical operations.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who is passionate about software engineering best practices, architectural excellence, and mentoring engineering teams while delivering innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend applications using Java and modern frameworks.
• Architect and implement microservices-based solutions that are secure, resilient, and highly available.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, product managers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Drive technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices across development teams.
• Mentor and guide developers, ensuring adherence to coding standards and software design principles.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services for banking and financial applications.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability through continuous improvements.
• Integrate applications with internal and external banking systems, payment gateways, and third-party services.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and governance standards applicable to the banking industry.
• Participate in production support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
• Contribute to CI/CD implementation and promote DevOps practices for efficient software delivery.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing platforms and processes.

Requirements

Must-have Skills

• 8–12 years of hands-on experience in Java application development.
• Strong expertise in Core Java, Java 8/11/17, Multithreading, Collections, Streams, and JVM internals.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, API Gateway, service discovery, circuit breakers, and distributed systems.
• Solid experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
• Strong understanding of banking applications such as payments, lending, retail banking, treasury, trade finance, or core banking platforms.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database optimization, and transaction management.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• Experience working with Git, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and clean architecture.

Good-to-have Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and distributed messaging systems.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and enterprise security practices.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams and large-scale enterprise projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
