This post is full time (35 hours per week) and has funding available for up to 3 years. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
The School of Computing Science are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join a research project which brings the Active Inference perspective to the study of human computer interaction. This requires us to build/learn generative, probabilistic forward models of users and their physical and computational environments. This will involve modelling sensors, developing dynamic models for control and developing a theory for future direct manipulation interactions with AI-enhanced systems outside of language-model-based thinking.
The successful candidate will be someone with the ability to develop novel theory, and a strong background in topics such as Active Inference, Model-based Reinforcement Learning, or Model-based predictive control. Ideally they should also have an interest in HCI theory. They must also have strong development skills, to enable them to lead the process of prototyping new interactive systems with sensors, build machine learning algorithms that work in-the-loop, and deliver empirical work and publications.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Professor Roderick Murray-Smith at  Roderick.Murray-Smith@glasgow.ac.uk
