What this job involves:
Join JLL as a licensed Journeyman Electrician, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of facility equipment and building systems through expert electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. This position combines advanced electrical expertise with broad mechanical system knowledge, requiring you to install, maintain, and repair complex facility equipment including electrical controls, HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, emergency generators, and base building systems ranging from 120v to 480v. You'll work independently and collaboratively to diagnose system malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and perform preventive maintenance that keeps our facilities operating at peak performance while minimizing downtime and ensuring occupant safety. What your day-to-day will look like:
• Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain electrical controls, single and three phase motors (single & two speed), bus plugs, interior/exterior lighting, battery chargers, fans, compressors, pumps, switching, motor controls, transformers, substation equipment, HVAC equipment, PLCs, and distribution systems ranging from 120v to 480v, requiring the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action as required.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment including generators, exhaust fans, air conditioning equipment, boilers, water heaters, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, motors, dock doors, dock plates/levelers, and dock heaters to ensure optimal performance and minimize operational disruptions.
• Assist with installation and repair of plumbing/piping/tubing, wire single and three phase motors (single & two speed), run conduit, pull wiring to machinery, motors, and operating parts, install and rebuild pumps and motors, install and rebuild air compressors and heat exchangers, and replace bearings in all types of motors and seals on pumps.
• Monitor operation, repair, and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment, recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment and reporting any problems or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Assist other mechanics and electricians with repairs and maintenance of plumbing/piping/tubing, interior/exterior painting, line striping (paint sprayer), welding, snaking drains, repair of dock doors and dock plates/levelers, and general building and equipment maintenance to support comprehensive facility operations.
• Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace, following all safety protocols and OSHA requirements to protect yourself, colleagues, and building occupants.
Required Qualifications:
• Journeyman Electrician license with proven ability to read electrical blueprints, schematics and diagrams, and expertise in electrical system design, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial building electrical systems.
• High School diploma or GED with two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC systems demonstrating formal technical training and foundational knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience beyond construction-style electrical work including troubleshooting of VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), building automation devices like damper actuators, valve actuators and sensors, demonstrating ability to work with complex control systems and automation technologies in commercial facility environments.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, work order management, and reporting of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Flexibility and willingness to work varying shifts from time to time to support facility operations, respond to emergencies, and ensure continuous building system performance with ability to adapt to changing operational requirements and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current CFC or EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification demonstrating specialized knowledge and compliance with environmental regulations for handling refrigerants in HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting emergency generators, UPS systems, and critical power infrastructure in commercial, industrial, or data center environments requiring high reliability and minimal downtime.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order tracking, preventive maintenance scheduling, and equipment history documentation.
• Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) including programming, troubleshooting, and integration with mechanical and electrical equipment for optimized facility performance and energy efficiency.
• Experience with plumbing, welding, painting, and general mechanical maintenance tasks demonstrating versatility and ability to support comprehensive facility operations across multiple trade disciplines.
