Safety Inspector - SME (Aviation)

SUMMARY

The Safety Inspector SME requires extensive experience as a FAA Aviation Safety Inspector (ASI) - Operations, including direct experience within a Certificate Management Office (CMO) overseeing Part 121 air carriers operating large transport category aircraft.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must be able to obtain a customer clearance for access to facilities, equipment and property. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelors degree and and eighteen (18) + years experience conducting an exhaustive review of related regulations, guidance, or policy; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

The SME must demonstrate a proven track record in making operational suitability determinations, with specific expertise in evaluating flightcrew task allocation, workload dynamics, and minimum crew complement requirements.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Must possess extensive experience reading, interpreting, and applying complex FAA operational rules, guidance materials, and policy relevant to crew complement and workload determinations, including a deep working knowledge of 14 CFR § 25.1523, 14 CFR § 121.385, and other relevant regulations, policy, and guidance

Must also possess direct experience working on complex aircraft certification projects

Focused on evaluating human factors data to support flight-crew workload assessments and minimum crew complement decisions

Actively support the execution of the regulatory reviews

Support the development of survey and semi-structured interview questions, and the structural design and refinement of the research plan

The estimated pay range for this role is $83/hr to $85/hr, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
