Responsibilities
Maintain ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac rhythms and notify nursing staff of changes. Measure and interpret heart rhythms and document on patient rhythm strips every four hours. Initiate and discontinue monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge. Perform configuration and maintenance of monitoring equipment. Orient and mentor new staff members. Troubleshoot monitors with nursing staff and contact Clinical Engineering as appropriate. Give report to oncoming shift. Prioritize and organize work assignments based on changing situations. Maintain and stock designated equipment including telemetry cables. Adhere to confidentiality of patient information.
