Outstanding opportunity to join our Practice Management team, the financial backbone of the practice. The team turns financial data into insight, monitors profitability and plan attainment, and gives leaders the reporting they need to run the business.
The Operations Manager, Practice Management is responsible for providing financial and operational support to practice leaders and service teams with a focus on Strategic Leadership, Strategy Implementation Management, Operational Optimization, and Operational Team Support. In this capacity, the role helps ensure tools, processes, systems, and reporting exist and effectively support business performance, engagement economics, utilization, realization, margin, forecasting, and the delivery of quality services to RSM's clients.
Financial Performance Management & Reporting - Analysis | Insight | Forecasting
• Monitor and analyze the financial health of the assigned practice, including engagement economics, utilization, realization, margin, forecasting, and plan attainment.
• Prepare, maintain, and interpret recurring financial and operational reporting for practice leaders; assess information for reasonableness, accuracy, trends, and business impact.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and underperforming areas; summarize findings and recommendations that help leaders make informed business decisions.
• Support forecast, budget, and planning processes by coordinating inputs, validating assumptions, tracking variances, and communicating key insights.
Practice Operations & Planning Support - Business Lifecycle | Leadership Support
• Partner strategically with assigned practice leadership to support execution of short- and long-term goals and translate priorities into practical operating plans.
• Provide operational support across the client delivery lifecycle, including monitoring process adherence, supporting issue resolution, and coordinating follow-through on priority actions.
• Develop reporting packages for practice management and leadership discussions.
• Communicate financial and operational updates to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and audience-appropriate manner.
Process, Project & Systems Execution - Management | Optimization | Controls
• Create and execute project plans for practice management initiatives; revise plans as needed to address changing requirements, risks, and stakeholder needs.
• Manage reporting, process improvement, and systems-related initiatives in partnership with practice leaders, operations liaisons, Finance, Technology, Human Resources, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and other internal teams.
• Develop, document, and maintain efficient support processes and standard operating procedures that improve reporting consistency, data quality, operational effectiveness, and leadership visibility.
• Recognize and determine appropriate corrective action to ensure projects and internal initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
Stakeholder Collaboration, Coaching & Change Support - Partnership | Guidance
• Serve as a trusted operational and financial partner to practice leadership, service teams, and operations peers, helping connect business priorities, reporting needs, and execution plans.
• Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and knowledge sharing to operations team members or liaisons; review work products as appropriate and promote consistent practices.
• Support change implementation by preparing communications, training materials, process guidance, and adoption support for new or improved practice management processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of five years of experience working with management-level individuals.
• Minimum of five years of experience working in a professional services firm; consulting preferred.
• Minimum of three to five years working in operations, finance, practice management, or a related area with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
• Experience analyzing financial information, including engagement economics, utilization, realization, margin, forecasting, profitability, or plan attainment preferred.
• Previous experience managing, coaching, or guiding others in a team environment, directly or indirectly.
• Experience navigating a matrix reporting environment and solving or resolving complex issues.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Project management certification or formal project management training preferred.
• Experience with reporting automation, dashboarding, financial planning, or performance reporting preferred.
• Experience supporting practice profitability, forecasting, utilization, realization, or engagement economics preferred.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $102,800 - $176,000
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
