Responsibilities
Mechanical design of new products following a five-phase product development process, sustaining engineering activities for released products including design improvements and reliability enhancements, partner with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve complex product issues, evaluate component obsolescence and lead redesign efforts, develop and guide prototype development and experimental design, author and refine test and validation protocols, perform detailed tolerance stack-ups and tolerance analysis, integrate DFM and DFA principles early in the design process, apply reliability engineering tools to predict product life and mitigate failure modes, lead creation and maintenance of Design FMEAs, author and approve required technical documentation, collaborate to establish robust production lines, develop product cost models and drive BOM accuracy, initiate and close out Engineering Change Requests, lead formal and informal design reviews, assess and resolve complex product non-conformances, stay current with emerging technologies and engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource
