QA/QC Lead
The QA/QC Lead will be responsible for working with project teams to implement, support, and maintain quality assurance/quality control programs on multiple projects.
This position is based in Winnipeg with travel to project sites.
What You Will Be Working On
· Work closely with project team members and subcontractors concerning quality functions and daily inspections.
· Continuously drive the implementation of Bird and Client quality programs.
· Audit and inspect construction activities and monitor work in progress.
· Ensure procedures are established to provide traceability from initial order to field installation.
· Develop written plans and procedures for project-specific activities to supplement task planning.
· Create and ensure compliance with ITPs and maintain the supporting documentation.
· Review and approve quality documentation from subcontractors.
· Create and maintain punch list, deficiencies, and walkdown packages.
· Assist project teams with the creation and maintenance of inspection and test plans.
· Recommend, implement, and assist with preventative measures to ensure quality is maintained.
· Create and present non-conformance reports.
· Coordinate quality-related activities with the project team to assist with client expectations.
· Assist with maintenance of project files and preparation of reports.
· Participate in on-site safety meetings and be a leader of initiatives.
· Intervene in activities that contravene the materials quality or environment restrictions.
· Ensure the validity of documents related to quality are recorded accurately and in a timely fashion.
· Conduct independent inspections in accordance with the Execution Procedures and ITPs.
· Identify issues and monitor corrective actions.
· In collaboration with the Superintendent, produce project end records dependent on the progress of work.
· Perform inspections building components, assemblies, and fabrication in accordance with the applicable standard of construction and/ or customer specifications.
· Complete dimension inspections.
· Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
What We Are Looking For
· Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Quality Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
· 5+ years’ related work experience in construction, preferably involving QA/QC.
· Experience with inspections, testing and quality documentation.
· Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and quality management principles.
· Experience with ISO 9000, ISO 22000 considered an asset.
· Competent with all Microsoft Office applications, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction management systems.
· Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation.
· Ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
· Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
· Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve them.
· Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail.
