Staff Integration and Test Responsible Engineer
Core
Building a hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test capability for a Mars science orbiter, managing integrated hardware/software validation from bench setup to flight readiness.
Role type
Staff Integration and Test Responsible Engineer (Spacecraft Systems)
Builds
Automated HITL test environment, simulation/data-acquisition infrastructure, CI/regression pipelines, and final flight hardware integration.
Domain
Aerospace / Spacecraft Systems / Test Engineering
Deliverable
production ML models | product features | dashboards & analysis | research | client delivery | infrastructure | physical/clinical work
Required skills
Test engineering, automated test framework architecture, software tooling for validation, CI/regression infrastructure, embedded systems troubleshooting, hardware interfaces (Ethernet, UART, SPI), root cause analysis, cross-team coordination
Preferred skills
HITL/SIL/HIL environment setup, spacecraft/satellite/robotics experience, harnessing/cable fabrication, test practice establishment
Technologies
CI/CD pipelines, telemetry/logging systems, automated pass/fail adjudication, rack fabrication, avionics, flight software
Responsibilities
Design and maintain the ISP HITL test environment end-to-end (rack fabrication, avionics installation, load emulation). Build simulation, data-acquisition, and control infrastructure for exercising flight software against real hardware. Develop software fixturing and automated test frameworks with continuous regression detection. Debug integrated failures across software, avionics, and interfaces. Validate timing-sensitive behavior and interfaces including soak testing. Establish dashboards and test procedures for system health and requirements traceability. Drive final integration and test of flight hardware leading into launch.
Seniority
Staff, hands-on IC with strategic ownership
