Role Overview
A tender is opened for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant (RG) under the project “CANNVALUE – Valorization and Applications of By-products from Cannabinoid Extraction Processes”, COMPETE2030-FEDER-01203300, 17466 of CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials. The position is within the scientific area of Chemical Engineering, funded by COMPETE2030-FEDER. The work will be carried out at CICECO and at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Doctor José Pedro Aniceto, Professor Maria Inês Portugal Branco and Professor Carlos Manuel Silva.

Responsibilities
Perform activities of extraction/purification processes using subcritical and supercritical CO₂ and the corresponding phenomenological modeling of equilibrium and kinetics.

Requirements and Qualifications
Admission Requirements:
- Students enrolled in master’s programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Other Requirements:
- Candidates with Bachelor (Licenciatura) in Chemical Engineering with a final grade of 16 or above.
- Oral and written command of Portuguese and English.

Eligibility:
- Applicants must comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2 of the Research Fellow Statute (Decree-Law no. 123/2019) and the provisions of article 9 of the Scientific Research Grant Regulations of the University of Aveiro.
- Proof of enrolment must be made available until the contract is awarded.
- If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution under the terms of Decree-Law no. 66/2018.

Selection Criteria:
- Curricular Assessment (weighted 0-20 points):
- Average grade from a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (60%).
- Demonstrated knowledge in modeling/programming, mass transfer phenomena, and separation processes. Additional training beyond the bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Theoretical and/or practical knowledge in supercritical fluids and processes (40%).
- Interview (if conducted): Final evaluation weighted 60% for Curricular Assessment and 40% for the Interview. The interview will be conducted simultaneously in Portuguese and English. Candidates scoring less than 14 points on the Curricular Assessment may not be admitted to the interview. The grant will not be awarded if no candidate achieves a minimum final score of 14 points.

- Duration: 12 months, starting in July 2026. The grant may be renewed for additional periods up to the maximum limit of approved funding, not exceeding limits defined in Regulation no. 292/2020.
- Monthly Maintenance Allowance: €1.090,98, subject to updates.
- Social Security: The fellow may be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan.
- Work Location: CICECO and the Department of Chemistry of the University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal.
- Hours Per Week: 35.
