Physicist/Scientist- X-Ray Source Modeling
Core
Own the physics modeling that sets the performance limits of X-ray sources, including electron optics, thermal behavior, and X-ray generation/transport.
Role type
Senior IC physicist (X-ray source modeling)
Builds
X-ray source designs for semiconductor chip manufacturing equipment
Domain
Semiconductor equipment / Materials science

Required skills
Finite element methods, Multiphysics tools (COMSOL, Opera, CST, ANSYS), Python/C/C++, Simulation of electron optics, Thermal/structural analysis, X-ray generation modeling, Design of experiments, Model validation against measurement
Preferred skills
Monte Carlo radiation transport (Geant4, TOPAS), X-ray optics simulation (SHADOW, McXtrace), Cathode physics, High-vacuum practice, Mechanical CAD
Technologies

Responsibilities
Simulate electron optics end-to-end (thermionic emission, space-charge-limited transport, focusing, aberration, deflection, spot formation). Build coupled electrothermal models of beam power deposition and thermal distortion. Model X-ray generation and transport (bremsstrahlung, characteristic emission, spectral shaping). Quantify and communicate model uncertainty (convergence, sensitivity, mesh studies). Design experiments to test models and interpret lab results. Translate sensitivity results into design and manufacturing decisions (tolerances, alignment budgets). Script and version simulation workflows for reproducibility. Mentor junior physicists and engineers in modeling practice.
Seniority
Senior, hands-on IC
