Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of a high-mix, low-rate prototype shop; Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of fabricators and welders; Own job prioritization, capacity planning, and throughput; Develop and maintain critical shop documentation; Drive quality and first-article acceptance of fabricated parts; Lead a team executing hands-on assembly and commissioning of custom mechanical test equipment; Oversee integration of complex mechanical assemblies, plumbing, wiring harnesses, sensors, and instrumentation; Serve as the primary manufacturing voice in design reviews providing DFM feedback; Monitor build status and material readiness; Advise on make-versus-buy decisions and maintain audit-ready build records.
