General Summary:

The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering is responsible for leading a global team of entry level to experienced professionals focused on developing high-quality, innovative, fully performing software in compliance with coding standards. This role supports the management and coordination of resources and processes to deliver successful
software releases, while defining the strategy and driving initiatives that deliver on organization’s vision and goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results

Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments

Influences others outside of their own job regarding policies, practices, and procedures

Contributes to policy and strategy implementation for short-term results

Leads and prioritizes the daily activities of the team

Manages, mentors, and coaches to develop a collaborative and dynamic team

Coordinates cross-functional communication to align on initiatives and strategies to drive efficiency

Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature sets

Maintains a deep understanding of programming and coding fundamentals, architecture, and design in multiple languages

Builds positive and collaborative relationships within the team and organization

Oversees multiple large, complex, and dissimilar deliverables and trains others on deliverables as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

Exceptional leadership and customer service skills

Strong hands-on experience in Microservices architecture.

Expertise in cloud technologies, with AWS preferred

Working knowledge of databases (any type).

Willingness to work in a team environment

Strong organizational skills to give the team direction

Professional presence suitable for interaction in meetings, in-person, or via email

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Strong creativity and latitude skills

Advanced knowledge of programming languages and software basics

Strong knowledge of relevant software development tools including version control, build processes, debuggers, and test frameworks

Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to develop professionally

Strong ability to lead and manage multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously with sufficient efficiency and quality

Strong ability to understand complex algorithms

Advanced understanding of how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience
• 10-15 years of relevant experience
• 3+ years of leadership experience
